Week 5

UOI
Our new unit of inquiry is all about inventors, inventions and how people have overcome problems in their lives.

Our first inquiry was about ......... Wheels.!!!!!!!!

Then we learned about famous inventors and their inventions and talked about how these inventions had made our lives easier.

Then we watched a video about Child Inventors.... lets hope we can inspire our children to become inquirers and inventors!

Then we went out to explore and investigate where we can see wheels being used in and around our school.

Research and recording about wheels
The learners also used google to find and draw other objects that used wheels.

So far its been wheely good fun!

Global Play Day

“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.”

Plato

We had a great morning playing with our friends and the different games our friends had brought to share. We worked as teams and helped each other have fun.

Maths
we have revisited the properties of shapes. Some of the class were even able to investigate what a "right angle" was! We remembered words such as; faces, edges and corners of two and three dimensional shapes. Next week we will be finding out about measuring weight and the units we can use to describe weight.
We have a wall calendar and we looked at how the months change and why February is a special month. It only has 28 days, but sometimes it gets 29 days.

English
We have three groups of workers. this week we worked on how to write a dinosaur story together, practiced our spelling words and read to adults in class. this weeks spelling results were very pleasing, so I think we will continue to do spelling in class each day of the week.
