Week 4
The children are working hard to memorize many new words. These words will help them to develop their comprehension and reading skills.
We have started to find out about how a story is written.
Next week we will start to try to write our own stories.
Well done to the children who were able to use the "Look Cover Write Check' method to learn their spelling words last week.
I would also like to say congratulations to the children who have started to read books at home.
If we think your child needs more time to practice reading the book she or he has, we will not change the book until they can read
The next book you should look out for is called "A Big Pig"
Reading eggs is very useful to increase your child's confidence and ability regarding reading skills please try to let them use this website as often as they would like.
You might want to give them a set of headphones though!!!
Next week we will embark on another new activity.....
We will start to practice our handwriting.
Ms Emmi's Group
Shapes, Shapes, Shapes!
Our big focus this week was all around - shapes.
We started looking at various shape concepts last week and lead into our inquiry this week. Very impressed with how many new words and concepts the learners were able to take in and start using while discussing their knowledge such as quadrilateral, trapezium, hexagonal prism.
This week we had a shape hunt, shape games, shape poems - What Shape Am I? We ended the week with sorting shapes into different groups based on their qualities.
Next week we will be going back to place value and taking a closer look at number patters and making our own number patterns based on their abilities.
Unit of Inquiry
We have decided that we must not only take care of our own health, but that we must take care of the health of the earth. So we talked about pollution and how we can get a message to others to also take care of the earth. We researched with google how to draw posters with recycling messages on. Then we started to make our own posters. Next week we will talk about the best places for these posters to be displayed at school.
Morning Routine
When the children come to school in the morning they have many choices of activities they can learn from with their friends.
Moving away from drawing stick people.
