Week 2 2020 Team work

 TEAM WORK


This week and next week we are focusing on how a great team works together. Such as how we can do things to help each other and what a great team says to each other in ways of encouragement. 
Last week we tried to build tall towers. This week our tall towers were built after we had our chat about what makes a team. 
I am happy to tell you that we have started to help each other and work together and talk positively together.








Maths 
We are learning about tens and ones and what each digit means in a number.




Miss Emmi's group are also investigating digits and what they mean when we see them. 







English
We are starting to experiment with letter names and sounds. We are starting to find ways with computers to learn our letter names and sounds.
We tried doing our first writing of the year which I can use to compare how much they have improved by the end of the school year. 










U.O.I.
We are now aware of the reasons we try to eat healthy food. 
Please ask your children about those reasons.

We started learning about how we can use computers to communicate and we wrote our first emails to Dr. Lindsay. 
As this year continues computer skills will be developed and become very important for our research work, presentation tool and learning English and maths skills.







Wet Play Days
Sadly, we have had a lot of rain this week so we have had to play on our especially made wet play verandas. 
Lets hope the rain only happens at night times and the children can get out to play every day!!!



More U.O.I.
We found out that healthy eating alone is not enough to be healthy. We need to exercise as well. 
The children were involved in some classroom aerobics this week. 
I think they enjoyed it! 



















Drama
We acted out about how friends can take care of each other every day.








Designing our "Healthy Food Plate"
Now we know what we need to eat to be healthy. The children were given the challenge of creating their own healthy food meal. 
They made some very great choices about their diet. 
Well done girls and boys!!!

 Welcome to week 1/2's blog spot for year 1/2 First up is a celebration of students doing their work and being awarded certificates for those efforts. Tone. Bowon and Euro were awarded Study Ladder certificates this week for their work about subtraction.  Well done boys!!! The Big Pencil Award A new idea is the awarding of the BIG PENCIL  At the end of the day the student, who the other class members think has tried their best throughout the learning day, will be given this award to take home and return he next day. Welcome Back to Week 10

  Welcome back ..... ........to the second half of first term. We hope you had a relaxing break and are recharged for the path to Christmas.  Please can you support your children with reading at home.  The more they read the stronger they will become.  Here at school we will endeavor to change their book when we feel they are ready to move on to  new book. Here are some works we are proud of from last term. Swimming Mr. Dave's Jellyfish Temperature Check Each day at lunchtime we check the children's temperature and get them to wash their hands as part of our covid 19 school policy.  Here are some images of that happening.  "Happy Birthday!" (ask your child what this means!) English "Reading Eggs" is helping our students to improve their reading and phonics knowledge.  As well as this, the children read to an adult at least three times a week.
